TAPS Contained is a collection of new work by the Tapestry Artists of Puget Sound. This is a diverse group of work by a group of artists committed to the art of the tapestry. The show’s name comes from a collaborative piece by the same name; a work by all fifteen members, translating the patterns on the stacks of metal containers we see on ships in Puget Sound to tapestries. From there the work goes in many directions, and the individuality of each artist comes forth. When talking with one of the members, she said “You know the Slow Food Movement? Well this is Slow Art”. That’s just what it is. There isn’t a fast way to weave tapestries of this caliber. Come. Have a look. You’ll see what I mean.
